Job Description
A Fire Alarm Technician works in residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings to ensure fire detection and alarm systems are reliable and meet legal safety standards. The role requires technical knowledge of electrical systems, attention to detail, and adherence to safety procedures.
Responsibilities
• Install fire alarm systems, including control panels, smoke detectors, heat detectors, pull stations, and notification devices.
• Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair faults in fire alarm systems and associated equipment.
• Program and configure fire alarm control panels.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Ensure installations comply with local fire codes and relevant standards.
• Document inspection results, maintenance activities, and repair work.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, and inspectors during installation and commissioning.
• Respond to emergency service calls and system failures.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory of spare parts.
